So you know how me and my cat Max just kind of hang out at my house during the day? Well at night we basically do the same thing, except I dress up all steampunk and I’m wielding a pistol in one hand and a sword in the other while I spawn imps to aid the zombies Max spawned in the battle against angry skeletons/zombies/spiders/goblins/anything else that doesn’t want us to discover the secrets of Ember.
This is harder than I thought.

Torchlight is an RPG in the same vein as Diablo with WoW-esque graphics. Torchlight is Diablo…with a pet. Your pet rolls around with you from the get-go; you can choose between a cat or dog, name your pet, love your pet, have your pet haul your extra crap around, send your pet to the market to sell your extra crap, and teach your pet to spawn skeleton-zombie-demons. Wish you could go out adventuring with your real-world pet? I know I do. The wonderful thing about Torchlight is that with a few simple keystrokes you can turn your pet from an unrecognizable intimidating animal into an unrecognizable intimidating animal with your cat’s name.
As far as personal customization goes, it’s pretty top notch. You can choose from three classes- the destroyer, the alchemist, and the vanquisher…which is pretty much the mage, the berserker, and t

he babe with guns. From there you can customize your class in a wide variety of ways through the all-encompassing skill tree that opens up as you level up rather than as you dedicate more points to a specific branch, allowing you to get a bit more creative with your character’s abilities.
If your eyebrow is currently raised at the idea of a new Diablo style game with WoW-esque graphics, then it’s important to know that Torchlight is an RPG in the same vein of Diablo because…well it was created by some of the same people. The story behind this one is that Blizzard North was founded by some dudes. Some other dudes bought up Blizzard North and renamed it Blizzard. Some key dudes left blizzard as a result. Those key dudes formed Flagship Studios. Part of Flagship made Hellgate: London. Hellgate: London apparently wasn’t very good. The other part of Flagship was making Mythos-a diablo-esque game- when Flagship was shut down because of Hellgate’s not good…ness. These Mythos dudes went and formed Runic Games and made Torchlight. Now they want to use Torchlight’s profits to make a Diablo-style-MMO set in the Torchlight universe. It’s $20. Go buy Torchlight. http://www.torchlightgame.com/
