Facebook.
A site originally created by a young college student so that he could interact with his parents on a more frequent basis. Now it has turned into the most popular social networking platform on the web, beating out even the ancestor of them all: Myspace.
But Facebook has gone way beyond chat rooms, wall posts, and instant messaging. Three years ago it ventured into the most profitable and addicting realm of the Internet: GAMES.
These games come in all sorts of different formats; the most popular of these being the casual tycoons.
Papaya Farm (although not originally a Facebook creation) has the biggest following in this genre; many believing it to be the best in its class. I disagree. I recently discover the best tycoon game ever to christen the web with its presence. CAFE WORLD!
As with all tycoon games, Cafe World has the same basic concept: Make a products, sell it, and expand your empire. Cafe world does have a few twists of it’s own, however, that make it a higher quality and more addicting game then its competition.
1) The product development times are much quicker in Cafe World. Instead of the standard 1-2 days that it take to grow produce in Papaya Farm , you have a wide range of cooking times for your dishes ranging from 5 minutes to 2 days.
2) Cafe World incorporates the “virus” aspect (ability to contact and interact with friends through the game) of Facebook better then any other game (excluding mafia) that I’ve seen. You can make your friends you waiter/waitresses, visit and eat at their restaurants, gift items, make them your neighbor in a virtual world, etc. The possibilities are endless.
3) The overall quality of Cafe World is just better. You have so many more options. You can remodel your store, buy specific furniture (some cost more then others), paint your walls, and create your own table arrangement. You also have a vast selection a recipes to choose from, each with certain benefits in cost, servings, and experience points.
Overall, Cafe World is probably the best game out there for all you casual Facebook gamers. So have at it… Go cook your customers a chicken!
